The Shahada in Thuluth — Horizontal Acrylic Wall Art

Read from the right, the declaration of faith is set out along one line in classical Thuluth, the letterforms extended along the baseline so the script carries the full width of the piece. It is a horizontal composition rather than a stacked or framed one, and the width is what gives the script its space.

That width is the point. It settles above a console, an entrance doorway, or in a majlis above the seating, where a tall piece would crowd the ceiling. Each one is cut in our own Dubai workshop on a CO2 laser from cast acrylic and float-mounted, so it stands clear of the wall with a soft shadow behind the strokes. Gloss piano black reads quiet and graphic; mirror gold and mirror chrome pick up whatever light the room is given.
