Mihrab Arch Geometric Lattice — Acrylic Islamic Wall Art
A mihrab arch stands at the centre of this panel, its ogee crown drawn in one unbroken line and left open so the wall itself becomes the niche. Around it runs a girih lattice of eight-pointed stars, hexagons and interlacing straps, repeating edge to edge in the manner of the carved screens found in mosque courtyards. A plain double border holds the composition square and keeps the pattern from running off the edge. There is no calligraphy here — the piece is geometry alone, and the drawing carries it.
The upright arch shape suits a prayer corner, the end wall of a hallway, or the space above a console where a tall vertical does more work than a wide frame. Because the lattice is cut right through, the wall colour reads as part of the pattern and the piece shifts as the light moves across it. Gloss piano black gives the sharpest graphic edge against a pale wall. Mirror gold warms a charcoal or deep green wall and catches lamplight. Mirror chrome silver stays cooler, and sits well with grey, stone and plain joinery.
