Al-Falaq & An-Nas Square Kufic Wall Art, Set of Two

Two square panels, made to hang as a pair: Surah Al-Falaq on one, Surah An-Nas on the other. Both are set in square Kufic — the geometric style in which every letter is squared to a grid and interlocked with its neighbours until the text reads as a single dense lattice inside one border. Close up you can follow the line of the script; from across the room it settles into pattern. The two surahs are known together as al-Mu'awwidhatayn, the two chapters of seeking refuge, and are customarily recited together — which is why we make them as a pair.

Each panel is cut on the CO2 laser in our own Dubai workshop from 3mm cast acrylic, then float-mounted so it stands a little off the wall. The shadow that falls through the lattice does as much work as the acrylic itself, shifting through the day. In gloss piano black the pair reads graphic and quiet; in mirror gold or mirror silver they pick up whatever light the room is holding.
