How to keep acrylic pieces looking new
Acryhome ·
Acrylic keeps its glass-like clarity for years with a little routine care. Here's how we look after the pieces in our own homes.
Dust with a soft, dry cloth
Use a clean microfibre cloth and light pressure. Avoid paper towels and rough fabrics — they can leave fine scratches on the surface.
Clean with water and mild soap only
Never use glass cleaners, alcohol or ammonia-based sprays on acrylic; they cause tiny cracks known as crazing. A few drops of dish soap in lukewarm water is all you need. Dampen the cloth, wipe gently, then dry with a second soft cloth.
Placement matters
Acrylic tolerates UAE heat well, but prolonged direct sunlight can dull adhesives on mounted pieces over time. For wall clocks and hangings, choose a spot out of the harshest afternoon sun where possible.
Small scratches
Light surface marks can often be buffed out with a dedicated acrylic polish. Work in gentle circles with a soft cloth, then wipe clean.
